Music Studio Policies

2023-2024

These policies are effective 6/1/2023 through 8/31/2024

The student/teacher bond created in music lessons and the business relationship between students and parents are both vital to the development of the student. The following policies must be followed to maximize learning potential.

Our promise to you

  • Engaging lessons adapted to the unique gifts of each student

  • A safe and welcoming space for students to be who they are authentically

  • Passionate teaching

  • Performance and enrichment opportunities through master classes and special workshops

  • Quick response time, usually within 24 hours (M-F) via email/text/phone. Let us know when you're on vacation and we won't bug you.

Your promise to us

  • Students will arrive on-time with books and music.

  • Students will help reduce the spread of illness by staying home when sick OR requesting an online lesson. Failure to comply will result in dismissal from the studio and forfeiture of all paid lessons. Please inform the studio of any serious health issues (allergies, asthma, etc) that may need attention.

  • Students and parents will provide full contact information, including emergency contact.

  • No responsibility can be taken for students outside of lesson time, so please ensure that students are dropped off and picked up safely.

  • We encourage parents to drop-off and pickup students during the Covid-19 pandemic. While parents may be invited into lessons occasionally, the fewer bodies in the studio, the better. Plus, the bond between teacher and student is sacred and most beneficial when uninterrupted.

TUITION

  • Tuition is charged year-round and is a flat monthly rate, based on 40 lessons per year.

  • The studio is closed 4 weeks per year following the OCPS Holiday breaks as well as 2 weeks during the summer. These are not eligible for makeups or tuition pause.

  • There are 6 flex weeks per year that may be used by you or your teacher in case of sickness, travel, or emergency. These are not eligible for makeups tuition pause.

  • Tuition is paid monthly, on the 25th, for the upcoming month using autopay.

  • A credit card is required. Cash and checks are not accepted.

  • The Studio will be closed the following weeks:

    • 6/26-7/9/2023 -Summer Break

    • 11/20-11/26/2023 Thanksgiving Break

    • 12/23-1/5/24 Winter Break

    • 3/18-3/24/2024 Spring Break

SCHEDULING/MISSED LESSONS

  • Lessons are scheduled on a permanent basis. Recreational activities, school activities, and family holidays are not grounds for rescheduling lessons. Please plan accordingly.

  • 8 hours’ notice is required to cancel a lesson. Cancellations must be done by texting your teacher or canceling in the student portal.

  • Please reserve emergency cancellations for sickness or family emergencies.

  • Please protect the vulnerable among us by requesting an online lesson in any family member is sick. If they did not attend school, they should not be attending lessons. If a sick student comes to lessons, parents risk release from the studio and forfeiture of paid lessons.

  • Occasionally, group classes, student recitals, or Holiday parties may be held in lieu of private lessons. These are enriching learning and performance opportunities important for the growth of young musicians.

  • If a group class is arranged and missed or forgotten no additional opportunities will be awarded. Any lessons missed by the teacher will be rescheduled to the best of their ability; there will be no tuition credits for missed lessons.

RECITALS/SHOWCASE

A Noteworthy Music Studio hosts multiple recitals annually. These are extremely important to musical development and promoting overall musicianship. Students are not required to participatein recitals; however, we strongly encourage it. A venue and/or accompaniment fee will be assessed for each recital.
